Understanding Chiropractic Spinal Decompression

Chiropractic spinal decompression is completely non-surgical. Instead, of surgically entering your back, this treatment involves creating a negative pressure within the spinal column in order to increase the spaces between your vertebrae. When the spaces are increased, herniated discs caused by an injury or condition, like degenerative disc disease, are given the space they need to retract and refill with a nutrient-rich fluid. It can also unpinch nerves and other soft tissues that may be contributing to Fibromyalgia pain.

How the DRX9000 Works to Decrease Back, Neck and Fibromyalgia Pain

The DRX9000 is a computerized spinal decompression table that includes a specially designed decompression table, a sophisticated computer control center and a belt and pulley system. To receive treatment, our chiropractor attaches a special spinal decompression belt around the individual, adjusts the table and helps the individual onto the table. Then, our chiropractor attached the pulley system and programs the computer with the individual's specific spinal decompression parameters. Once the treatment session is activated, the computer applies varying amounts of force throughout the session. Each session typically lasts between 20 and 40 minutes, and during that time the individual has the ability to listen to relaxing music or watch educational videos and back and neck pain so that they can better understand their condition and how it may affect them.

Spinal Decompression Treatment Duration

The duration of the treatment program depends on the individual, their injuries and how often they receive decompression therapy. In most cases, the individual will need several treatments per week in the beginning and fewer treatments per week as they move through their individual treatment program. As the individual starts to feel better, we may incorporate other treatment modalities, like physical therapy and Alter G therapy, in order to decrease healing times and achieve optimal outcomes.
